Turn your head up to the roof. Ceilings hide domes, patterns and symmetry that most visitors walk right under without noticing.

Pattern and symmetry
Seen straight from below, a ceiling becomes a graphic composition. I look for the centre line and the repeating shapes, and I try to keep everything perfectly balanced.
Light from a different side
Daylight through windows and domes, or warm lamps along the vault, change a ceiling completely. I take my time to wait for the moment the light is right.

The museum is based on the temples of ancient Greece and Rome. Entrance hall designed by George Basevi.

The dome is actually an oval and decorated by Antonio Palomino in 1703.
Mercado Central – Valencia
Market opened in 1928. The dome is made of iron, crystal and ceramic and is about 30 meters high.
